San Pietro Bridge

Necropolis of Ponte San Pietro near the Fiora near the border with the territory of Manciano, presents, besides the remains of the medieval bridge, a protovillanovian necropolis, and artificial caves are tombs including the widow grave in which a young woman, with his skull smashed, was laid curled up at the foot of a warrior surrounded by weapons , one of the most important finds of the culture of the Rinaldone.
the bridge when it was erected, namely in the early 15th century, in fact, served to connect not only the two sides of the Fiora but also two States: the domains of the Pope (Saint Peter’s Patrimony in Tuscia) and those senesi (Sienese Republic). Its construction allowed an important development of communication routes, as the only other existing bridge in the area was that of Abbadia a Vulci.
