Roselle Walls

The walls were built by the Etruscans between the 7th and 6th century BC, to protect the city of Roselle, who at the time was one of the main cities of Etruria, both for strategic importance for trade with other cities in the area.
The oldest part of the walls is the one between the northern and the eastern side, while the other side was completed last.
In Roman times the walls underwent renovations and changes, as the city went expanding outside the existing circle.
Despite the early abandonment of Roselle in medieval times, the walls came well preserved to this day.
