Poggio Rota Megalithic settlement

In spring 2005, following the cutting of the forest, on top of a hill in front of the river Fiora, (Pitigliano, GR), it came to light a megalithic stone circle. The discoverer, Giovanni Feo, was nearby to study other megalithic monuments, along with the stone circle, seem to be the remains of a pre-Etruscan civilization, perhaps the first age of metals. Cività was in possession of those astronomical knowledge to realize a sophisticated circle of stones, having a celestial observatory and place of worship. The sun, the moon and the stars, in those ancient times, were assiduously observed and studied and, at the same time, they were considered gods, divine manifestations.
